Christophe De Backere, counsel

Christophe De Backere graduated from KU Leuven in 2012 as Master of Laws. During his final year of studies, he studied a semester at Duke University School of Law (Durham, United States). That same year, he joined the Brussels Bar.

He spent several years in the corporate/M&A department of Eubelius. He then worked at Ace Law, where he focused primarily on fund structuring and assisted private equity players throughout their entire investment and structuring cycle: from the initial investment, through the roll-out of buy-and-build strategies (including the operational integration of portfolio companies), to the preparation and execution of the exit. As a result, he is equally at ease in large-scale international transactions and in the specific world of private equity deals and fund structures. Legal 500 praised him for his client focus and his willingness to always go “the extra mile”.

From 2012 to 2017, Christophe was a research and teaching assistant, first part-time and later full-time, at the Jan Ronse Institute for Company and Financial Law and the Institute of Tax Law of KU Leuven. From 2018 to 2022, he taught tax law and accounting law at KU Leuven, the University of Antwerp and UHasselt. He has published various articles and academic contributions, for which he received, among other distinctions, the TFR Prize, and he still regularly gives seminars on a range of company law topics.

In October 2026, he joined intui.

He handles matters in Dutch, English and French.
